Towards the end of Prestons, doing photography for a living, participating in all opportunities she received and trying everything she started to consider where she wanted to go from there. At this point, Yan was getting money but was busing running around doing jobs or trying to find jobs to do next. From this point in her life she started her first long-term project, lasted four years, called Mother River.
