Power House ~ Richard White.
Power House was founded in 1999, and is one of the largest product studios in the UK. Power house is based in Roverly, Leeds and they pride themselves in photographing mostly food and drink for clients such as Kelloggs, Aldi, Morrisons and much more. One of the main founders of this company is Richard White, due to his dislike of the commercial setting he set out to make a business without this creating an equal work lids balance in order to create a fun atmosphere.
Power House has thirty employees who all look after themselves, however have a mentor if/when they need it. Richard usually works with art directors on his shoots and uses a low opacity of the inspiration/drawing the client has given him to get the image the closest he can to the clients expectations.
Due to the large scale of the company, Richard and his team have the opportunity to be able to build sets in the studio for example a kitchen/lounge. Furthermore, Richard also uses AI (Artificial Intelligence) in his images in order to product a background.
Where did it all start for Richard
After graduation, Richard met up with a few professionals in studios in London where he produced a shoot for Banana Rama, however this did not pay well so he returned back to his home in West Yorkshire. From here he knew someone who owned a studio photographing cars (which is the building he now currently owns), so he rang them up and got a job being an assistant painting the studio etc. With this he made sure he was able to pick up the camera from now and then eventually the photographer that was hired became ill and left Richard to be able to of the job for them and he did a good job. He did this for. few years before becoming a freelance photographer, in which his boss (from the car studio) occasionally helped him gain work.
With the plunge of being a freelancer, Richard taught himself photoshop and how to use digital cameras. Eventually he started power house in his cellar and Power House was founded.
