In order to become a documentary photography you have to be able to transport around quickly and be fast and unique with your shots.

What it takes and tips to be a sucessful documentary photographer:

  • Have to be able and be sufficient at all genres of photography.

  • Have to always be considerate of other peoples and the viewers emotions

  • Have to remember to of mid, wide and close shots when taking pictures.

  • Explore the scene find the best angle (it is possible to use mobile phone).

  • Be creative, for example using light drawing and slow shutter speeds etc.

  • It is possible to create a studio setting in a natural setting (for example in caves).

  • Lighting is key when it comes to documentary photography.

  • It’s good to get the subject of the image holding something, this is popular in press photography.

  • Newspapers usually have templates pages, so it is important to take images in both orientations (landscape and portrait).

  • Good composition is key to get images featured.

  • Look for events happening and go photograph is and send it to local and national newspapers.
